Synvisc® is injected directly into the affected joint. For knee osteoarthritis, Synvisc® is injected in 3 doctors visits, 1 week apart. Synvisc® is the only viscosupplement approved in Canada that can offer pain relief for up to 1 year (12 months).
If you have hip, shoulder or ankle osteoarthritis, a single injection is recommended. Depending on the severity of your condition, some patients may benefit from a second injection 1–3 months after the first injection. Talk to your doctor about what is best for you.
